“Ray Goodson is one of the best all-round tight ends in college football… at any level,” proclaimed one Fox Sports Broadcaster in a recent televised game of Southeast Missouri State (“SEMO”) Football.

SCOUTING REPORT: Goodson has excellent size/speed combination and will attack defenders. He currently weighs 255 pounds and runs a deceptive 40-yard dash. He is extremely versatile and has an unparalleled work ethic, with the stamina to play special teams as well as the H-back and the tight end positions. Goodson has exhibited a lot of toughness as a football player as seen by playing a variety of positions (playing fullback in some formations) and all the while maintaining his status most valuable receiver. He is known for his willingness to block for his teammates but also can get those tough yards in the middle of the field. Goodson sees the field well and can make good cuts and has some good moves to escape from the defender. He is tough to bring down after the catch and does not go down with the first hit. Watching Goodson make effortless, one-handed catches over the middle has become a thing of beauty to SEMO fans!

QUICK SUMMARY: Goodson, a native of Jackson, Missouri, is a Preseason All-America pick by the Sports Network. He has already accumulated a plethora of honors during his college career that includes: All-America honors at tight end in 2003; first-team All Ohio Valley Conference selection; Second-team All-America pick by College Sports Report.com.

In 2003, Goodson averaged 51.9 yards per game. Goodson’s 66 catches for 623 yards for 3 touchdowns not only led his team in receiving, but was also the envy of many receivers in the 2003 season. He had six catches for 48 yards and two TD's vs. Tenneessee Tech. Goodson is excited about the possibility of showcasing his talent on the next level and his dream is to carry his football talents to an NFL stadium on Sundays.

OTHER SPORTS INFO: All-district, all-conference tight end at Jackson High School in Jackson, Mo. Goodson was the team captain and most valuable receiver of his high school football team. He was an outstanding wrestler.

PERSONAL: Ray Goodson was born July 8, 1982. He is the son of Ray and Tammie Goodson. He will be graduating with a degree in general studies.

SOMETHING MOST PRO SCOUTS WOULD NOT KNOW ABOUT RAY:
Goodson is an All State 400 Meter Runner. In high school, Goodson, ran his 40 yard dash around the 4.5 range. While most pro scouts have Goodson running a 4.8, it is important to keep in mind he was a track champion and is capable of running in the 4.6-range.
